Epiphone (Elektrisch)

Epiphone LP Custom Classic PRO

The Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the solid body electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument and that his signature axe, the Les Paul, was the king of all electric solid body guitars. So, Les requested a Les Paul with a custom color finish in solid black and solid white with gold hardware that would blend well with a tuxedo.

The result was the Les Paul Custom, or the "tuxedo" Les Paul, as it became known among fans. The Les Paul Custom quickly became one of the most recognized guitars in the world and Les himself used his Les Paul Custom in concert, on his weekly television show with wife Mary Ford and on his album covers, including his famous duet with pal Chet Atkins, Chester and Lester.

Great Tonewoods, Classic Les Paul Sound While all Les Pauls share common design features, the Les Paul Custom distinguished itself from the Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Goldtop with a solid mahogany body. The Les Paul Custom PRO carries on that tradition but with the added twist of a maple veneer top, which adds a subtle "bite" to the Les Paul Custom's legendary tone. Just like Les' personal Custom, the Les Paul Custom PRO has a solid mahogany neck with a 24.75" scale that's hand-fitted with a glued-in joint for optimum neck-to-body contact, which allows the Les Paul Custom PRO to resonate as one solid piece of wood. The rosewood fingerboard features pearloid block inlays and has a 12" radius, a 1.68" nut and 22 medium-jumbo frets. The mahogany neck has a very comfortable and super fast SlimTaper "D" profile, the most-popular profile found on today's Les Pauls. The Custom PRO also features beautiful 5-ply (white/black) binding around the maple veneer top and the back along with single-ply cream binding around the body. The classic rosewood fingerboard is bound in white and the clipped dovewing headstock features 5-ply (white/black) binding along with a '50s era/Custom-style "split diamond" pearloid inlay and, of course, a vintage "Epiphone" logo in pearloid. The Kalamazoo-era bell-shaped truss rod cover features "Les Paul Custom PRO" in white silkscreen in tribute to Les' timeless design. The mahogany neck has a standard 24.75” scale with a 12” radius and features a 1960s SlimTaper “D” profile with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The “D” profile neck is easy to hold for hours of playing time. The smooth rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 1.68” nut, and 1-ply cream binding. Epiphone ProBucker Humbuckers with Coil-Tapping The Ltd Ed Les Paul Florentine PRO now features ProBucker pickups for that one-of-a kind Les Paul sound. ProBucker pickups feature Alnico II magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers. Alnico II magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end. And, like PAF-era humbuckers, Epiphone ProBucker pickups are incredibly responsive with a range of tones. The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a ProBucker-3 in the bridge position. The ProBucker-3 is slightly overwound to provide balance with the neck pickup and a bit of edge for lead work. ProBuckers emulate the sound of original PAF pickups which were hand-wound with a few extra turns of wire. Both the neck and bridge pickups also feature coil-tapping which is easily activated by a push/pull volume control. Coil tapping allows players an infinite variety of pickups sounds from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite. Epiphone ProBucker Power Epiphone pickups are critically acclaimed for their vintage-perfect sound and superior workmanship. When winding its humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation, free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest-quality parts for its pickups, such as ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available. A guitar with Epiphone ProBucker pickups is a guitar you can truly play for life. Guaranteed PRO Hardware Epiphone’s Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone’s legendary rock-solid hardware including a LockTone Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone’s updated design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed for improved sustain. The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO uses 1” diameter potentiometers for better “throw,” longer life and reliable service. Epiphone’s all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. And Epiphone’s proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and a heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability. Tuning is easy fast, and intuitive with Epiphone new "Deluxe" machine heads with an 18:1 ratio to ensure tuning stability and long life.

Epiphone Dot Black Royale Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance: Distinct semi-hollowbody tone Understated elegance: the Black Royale effect Epiphone's years of Dot experience Distinct semi-hollowbody tone If you've ever listened to any rock or blues from the '60s, you've heard the classic tone you'll find in the Dot Black Royale. The phrase "bell-like" is most appropriate here, with notes that spring to life and then gently decay into a long sustain - perfect for leads and solos. While the tone can get bright and aggressive if you need it to, it's the warm and smooth overdriven tones that made its predecessor, the ES-335, such a popular guitar for blues and jazz styles. You'll get the same vintage vibe from the Epiphone Dot Black Royale. Understated elegance: the Black Royale effect The Epiphone Dot Black Royale sports Epi's gorgeous Black Royale treatment. The Black Royale Series is all about understated - and perhaps a slight hint of menace. There's just something about black with sparkling trim that suggests elegance. Then too, there's also something about going onstage with a big semi-hollowbody Dot slung over your shoulder. However you decipher the visuals, the Epiphone Dot Black Royale sends a message - your musical message. Epiphone's years of Dot experience Epiphone was already experienced in making semi-hollowbody electric guitars by the time the ES-335 became a hit in 1958-59. The Epiphone Riviera and Sheraton were two popular models at the time, and '50s originals still sell for a pretty penny. So while the Epiphone Dot Black Royale is incredibly affordable, it's still built with Epiphone's 50+ years of experience in creating semi-hollowbody guitars with incredible tone and amazing value. Epiphone LP Tribute Plus VSB

Epiphone's long friendship with innovator Les Paul dates back to the late '30s and early '40s when Les and fellow guitarists such as Charlie Christian and George Barnes were at the forefront of jazz guitar. Epi Stathopoulos and Les were good friends and Epi would let Les use the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City at night after hours to experiment on guitar and pickup designs. This also was the era when Les, inspired by the stinging sustain heard in electric steel guitars, began dreaming of making a solidbody guitar. He built his first, the legendary "Log," at the Epi factory in 1941. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone luthiers, reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions.
