Gretsch G5442BDC Bass

One of the nicest things about Gretsch’s G5442BDC short-scale hollowbody electric bass guitar is that, although it gives you that characteristically full acoustic bass sound, it also escapes any kind of sonic pigeon-holing. In other words, whether you play old-time country or are riding the cutting edge of modern rock, you’ll have no trouble whatsoever introducing the sound of this incredible bass into your music. Made from 5-ply laminate maple (naturally bright) and adorned with a pair of Gretsch’s awesome Black Top Filter’Tron humbuckers, the G5442BDC provides you with the deep, expressive yet controlled sound you’ll only get from a short-scale bass. Keep reading to learn all about the Gretsch G5442BDC short-scale hollowbody electric bass.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

5-ply maple body provides your tone with excellent definition Black Top Filter’Tron Humbuckers bring out the woody warmth of your bass Short-scale neck gives you the comfort you crave and the action you need 5-ply maple body provides your tone with excellent definition Maple has to be one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their G5442BDC short-scale hollowbody bass guitar almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. And although bright and vibrant may not be the kind of terms you’d usually associate with acoustic bass, the G5442BDC’s 5-ply laminate maple body and maple neck actually make perfect sense. You see, the size and shape of the G5442BDC’s acoustic-style body alone are just what you need for big, thumping, and booming bass sound, but all of that gets overwhelming really quickly. But thanks to the G5442BDC’s naturally bright and resonant maple body and neck, you get a perfectly balanced and extremely expressive acoustic bass sound instead. Black Top Filter’Tron Humbuckers bring out the woody warmth of your bass A naturally warm and woody sound is just what you’d want out of an acoustic bass, but although the G5442BDC short-scale hollowbody electric bass gives you the right kind of general sound, it’s also way too quiet, without the aid of amplification. That’s where the G5442BDC’s Black Top Filter’Tron humbuckers come in. Far from your typical bass guitar humbuckers, Gretsch’s specially designed Black Top Filter’Tron dual-coil pickups to actually provide you with incredibly clarity that extends from an impressively rich open E up to the highest overtones. The result is a round and resonant sound that still provides you with plenty of attack and definition. The result is a well-rounded tone that delivers the character of and acoustic bass, plus the dynamic expression you’ll only get from a truly special set of bass guitar pickups. Short-scale neck gives you the comfort you crave and the action you need Short-scale basses aren’t just great for young bass players or those with small hands. Actually, many bass players prefer the slightly more percussive and brighter sound of a short-scale bass for its unique sound – and the Gretsch G5442BDC short-scale hollowbody electric bass certainly doesn’t disappoint! Whether you’re playing old-time Americana or modern jazz, if you want just a bit of extra clarity from your bass, without giving up that hollowbody woodiness, then you’ve got to get your hands on a Gretsch G5442BDC! Gretsch G5442BDC Short-scale Hollowbody Electric Bass Guitar Features: An excellent way to get acoustic bass sound that’s tight and focused, without applying tons of EQ Short-scale provides fast action, excellent response, and extra comfort Single-cutaway, 5-ply laminate maple body adds top-end definition to the naturally round and resonant sound of an acoustic-style bass Unique Gretsch Black Top Filter’Tron bass pickups provide you with full and perfectly balanced bass sound Sound-post bracing ensures full sustain and excellent resonance Bound rosewood fingerboard on a smooth 30-1/4″-scale maple neck feels incredibly comfortable and is easy to play Hump-block pearloid inlays, bound F holes, and classic G arrow control knobs all add touches of traditional Gretsch quality craftsmanship Rosewood-based four-saddle Adjusto-Matic bridge and G-cutout tailpiece provide you with the stability you need

Fender American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass® Solidbody Electric Bass at a Glance: Panstaking vintage accuracy graces this guitar Original neck shape with laminated-rosewood fretboard offers authentic feel The magic of Fender’s American Vintage series Panstaking vintage accuracy graces this guitar For the American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass, Fender tracked down several of the original ’64s and exhaustively analyzed them to ensure a painstaking level of vintage accuracy. Every facet of the original instruments – including minute details such as curves, perimeters, radii and more – was examined, measured, evaluated, and ultimately incorporated into the American Vintage ’64 J Bass®. What you see in this remarkable guitar is more than the sum of its parts. It’s a highly playable, eminently musical-sounding re-creation of an iconic instrument that changed music forever. Original neck shape with laminated-rosewood fretboard offers authentic feel The Fender American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass sports a slimmer C-shaped maple neck and a rounded-rosewood laminate fretboard. Fender moved away from the „slab“ style of fingerboards in 1962, because they had a tendency to split from the neck due to humidity changes. The rounded laminate method minimized the differences in the way the two woods contracted, but it was far more costly, as the single piece of rosewood had to be hand contoured to perfectly fit the neck. By painstakingly recreating this process Fender ensured that the American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass would give you the same feel and sound as an original 1964 Jazz Bass. The magic of Fender’s American Vintage series Since its introduction in the early 1980s, Fender’s American Vintage series has been the go-to source for the last word in original-era model year guitars and basses. With today’s American Vintage basses, Fender has gone back to the drawing board with new features, new specs and the most fanatical level of vintage accuracy yet. They’ve restored original tooling dies, voiced new pickups, reformulated vintage colors, and more – based on actual vintage instruments. From its flawless vintage looks, to its impeccable tone and playing feel, there’s pure magic in the Fender American Vintage ’64 Jazz Master! Fender American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass Solidbody Electric Bass Features: A vintage-reproduction Jazz Bass that looks, plays, and feels like an original Slim C-shaped maple neck Laminated rosewood fretboard sports 20 vintage-style frets New American Vintage ’64 Jazz Bass pickups Pickup and bridge covers Strap buttons on the back of the headstock Lower-mounted finger rest

Epiphone Jack Casady Bass Alpine (SOLD)

Deep, articulate tone and classic semi-hollowbody style are the hallmarks of the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass. The maple body, mahogany center block, set maple neck, and rosewood fretboard conspire to create a sweet-playing bass you won’t want to put down. Has a single low-impedance JCB-1 humbucker with VariTone control, as well as traditional volume and tone knobs. Pearloid trapezoid fingerboard inlays, body binding, and Jack’s signature across the headstock set it apart.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Jack Casady, electric rock bass player extraordinaire, worked closely with Gibson and Epiphone to create this tasty signature model. It’s a long-scale, hollowbody electric bass constructed loosely around his vintage 1972 Gibson Les Paul Signature bass, discovered in a New York instrument shop in the mid ’80s. Starting from there, Jack spent a lot of energy working with a pickup designer from Epiphone putting together a new humbucker to reside in his signature model. Together they nailed down a passive pickup and control section that delivered tone so pure and natural it’ll give you goose bumps. The pickup is a special low-impedance model (the JCB-1), which produces a bass sound high impedance pickups and active electronics can’t match. The controls — a volume, tone, and versatile VariTone knob — produce enough variation for any situation. The bass has a unique and high-quality transformer with a 3-way impedance selector which eliminates the need for active circuitry while giving the low-impedance signal from the pickup a boost. The pickup impedance selector (VariTone) allows for sounds from clear and clean with acoustic vibe to deep, round, and growling rock authority. The body construction is unique, too. It’s not a true semi-hollow or hollow body, but a hybrid that combines the best from both designs. Under the bridge is a mahogany center block that adds sustain and helps to fight feedback. This construction allows the top to vibrate freely, giving the bass guitar a more natural, woody tone. The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass is as unique as Jack, with a vibe, tone, and innovative features all its own. FEATURES Maple body Mahogany block under bridge Set maple neck Rosewood fretboard Low-impedance JCB-1 humbucker VariTone control Volume and tone knobs Pearloid trapezoid inlays Body binding

Not only is the 30 in. scale more comfortable for smaller hands, it reduces string tension, creating a looser playing feel that lends itself to nimble playing styles while adding a fat, “blooming” quality to the lower notes and sweetening the higher notes. Topped by a 9.5 in.-radius rosewood fingerboard with 19 medium jumbo frets, the “C”-shaped maple neck is comfortable for all playing styles. This bass’ smaller body easily fits those with smaller frames while maintaining Fender’s classic stylistic appeal, and is also great for energetic stage performances thanks to its light weight. Fender Sq Bass VI Jaguar Vint Mod

Squier brings you the welcome return of a long-vanished Fender classic in the deeply satisfying form of the Vintage Modified Bass VI six-string bass that delivers excellent low end. Although it’s called a six-string bass it has the feel of a baritone guitar without the extended neck. The strings aren’t extra thick so it’s a great transition from guitar. The original model of 1961-1975 has provided distinctively voiced low end for everyone from the Beatles to the Black Keys, Cream to the Cure, and many others.

The Vintage Modified Bass VI delivers authentically vintage-style look and tone, with a few modern touches such as a comfortable „modern C“ neck profile and 9.5″ fingerboard radius (the originals were 7.25″), and three custom Jaguar single-coil pickups with notched „claw“ shielding rings (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup).
