The AC30C2X tube amp uses 2 – 12″ Celestion Alnico Blues, and includes a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a second extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16-ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.
An Evolution in Tone This Vox amp offers 2 channels: Normal and Top Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. The layout is pretty simple, the Mix control allows you to blend the clean signal with the affected signal and then the rate, depth and output controls are pretty self explanatory. Above these controls you have a set of mini toggle switches, the first is the mode selector (Chorus, Vibrato or Flanger), the second is a Submode control (a,b or c), a tone control (Clean, Bright or Warm) and a Special control (none, little or lots) and this control affects different parameters depending on the submode. The way to find out what each submode is and what the special control does is to view what I call the Effect matrix on the bottom of the pedal, Empress users will already be very familiar with this feature as it is used on all multi-function pedals:

(In fact, 42 db means the signal is amplified 126 times, that’s probably the strongest boost on the market). Although you can use the 42 boost as a normal linear clean booster, its main purpose is to boost distorting amps and overdrive / distortion pedals… and it does the job extremely well.
You can easily push your crunchy rythm sound into high gain lead territory without getting all mud and excessive noise like when you try with another distortion pedal. The low noise / high headroom design of the 42 along with the passive bass and treble controls ensures that all you get is a tight, focused gain boost. Put the 42 in front of your amp or pedal, set the tone controls to full on and the boost at minimum, switch it on and… nothing happens (except maybe some added sparkle to your clean sound due to the high input impedance). Now start turning up the Gain control. Your basic tone doesn’t change but you get more and more distortion, sustain and compression. The 42 stays clean until the Gain control is around noon, then it starts adding some distortion and compression by its own. Every amp or dirt pedal reacts in its own way when pushed (and some don’t like it at all). If the sound gets muddy with more boost, turn down the Bass control and it clears up. If it starts sounding harsh, tame it with the Treble control. Second Hand. This issue is from the ’80s and is a reissue of the 1960’s fuzz face Hendrix was known to use. Uses discrete transistors, similar to the vintage fuzz pedals. Excellent sound quality, very good condition. Some scratches and scuffs on the bottom of the pedal, otherwise this is a stage ready fuzz for a great price.

The Carl Martin DC Drive pedal has a few tricks up its sleeve. Besides the typical Level, Tone, and Drive knobs that control the signal volume, the tone, and the amount of overdrive, Carl has smartly added a clean boost after the drive section, and a Regular/Fat switch. In Regular mode, the drive is crisp and clear, suitable for anything that calls for old-school drive—switch over to Fat and the drive gets thicker with a lot more gain, bringing out a more modern sound. The result is a multi-use guitar pedal that allows you to have a variety of rhythm and solo volumes at your feet.
The Bypass footswitch engages or bypasses the DC Drive pedal—turning it on or off. The red LED lights when the pedal is engaged. When the red LED is on, the Drive knob regulates the amount of gain (overdrive) you want to use—from almost clean turned full left, to high gain turned full right. The Tone knob sets the voicing or color of the overdrive, from dark at full left turn to crystal bright at full right turn. The Level knob simply sets the overall level or volume of the effect. When the red LED is on, choose the amount of Drive you prefer, color it with the Tone knob and then set the Level knob to equal your clean volume, or set the Level slightly higher than your clean signal. Check your settings by turning the pedal on and off with the Bypass switch to compare and fine tune. The Martin DC Drive also offers 2 pre-set voicings, which selectable via the toggle switch located between the Tone and Level knobs. The Regular (REG) setting is more neutral and flat, creating more of a generic overdrive. The Fat (FAT) setting is as it suggests—fatter and beefier, giving your overdrive a shot of steroids. Both of these voicings share the Drive, Tone and Level controls. The Carl Martin DC Drive is also a 2-in-1 pedal. Along with the Drive settings, there is another switch and knob on the left side of this pedal that will add another dimension to your sound. When you step on the Boost switch, the green LED will light, and you will be able to add from 0 to 15dB of crystal clear volume to your signal using the Boost knob. The Boost switch operates independently from the Drive section, so you can boost your clean signal or you can boost the Drive signal without coloring the sound. With the DC Drive you have 4 sounds available to you—your clean signal from the amp, the clean signal with the Boost, the Drive or overdriven signal, and finally the overdriven signal with the Boost. Like the rest of the Carl Martin Vintage effects pedal line, the DC drive comes in that cool retro die-cast housing with the equally cool chicken-head knobs and CM graphics. The pedal can be powered by 9v battery or regulated power supply (not included).

By optimizing the BF-2 circuit for a lower frequency band, the BF-2B Bass Flanger was born. The Bass Flanger was not directly replaced when the BF-2B production stopped. After almost 10 years Boss replaced it with the BF-3.
The BF-2B Bass Flanger adds swirling and dynamic effects to the bass sound. The bass fundamentals remain untouched as flanging is added to the harmonics only. The LFO (Low Frequency oscillator) is variable between 100ms and 16 seconds and this gives a wide specter of flanging sounds. The Love Squeeze is a compressor designed simply to sound right with guitars, without any bizarre “pumping” effects and without any noise.
This has been achieved by designing a circuit from scratch instead of adopting the more common approach of using an operational transconductance amplifier (for tech heads, it’s usually the CA3080 chip) or simply copying an existing design (like some American boutique makers have done) and gives the Love Squeeze a sound of its own. Low level signals can be raised by as much as 20dB without boosting high level signals, so when used in front of distortion – either in a pedal or an amp – leads lines can be fattened up without chords sending the distortion into mush.

It is capable of producing nearly 2 seconds of delay time with near-infinite repeats and a cavernous reverb. Both effects can be run separately or in unison. Even though it is a DSP based effect, the sound is warm and full. No sterile lifeless tones here! The delay signal is clear and strong with no after effects or signal degradation and the repeats decay into a nice ambient swell with no oscillation. The reverb is MASSIVE and is sure to please those who love the Ghost Echo but want more depth and less artifacts. The perfect „Black Hole Ambience Generator“!

MI Audio did a careful study of the way that modern British style amps get their overdrive and found that there was a very big concentration of the frequency information in the midrange. The Crunch Box distortion pedal captures the huge crunch of a Marshall amp on steroids and has become one of MI Effects most popular pedals. Simple and straightforward, with just gain, tone, volume and an internal presence control, the Crunch Box is based on a multiple clipping architecture (the signal is clipped 3 times. In the lower gain range, the pedal’s tone is very punchy and throaty. There are some great classic rock rhythm sounds to be found in there. As the gain is wound up, the Crunch Box develops a beautiful singing lead tone. Pinch harmonics are a breeze. The tone control has a wide sweep with a lot of top end. I have put in there more gain than anyone should need, but due to the way I handled the pre-overdrive tone shaping, the pedal always stays tight and each pickup retains its character, including single coils. The Crunch Box has a lot of volume up its sleeve. You will find though that 12 O’clock is close to ’neutral‘. An Internal Presence Control helps control the ’shape‘ of the pedal. By winding up the presence control, the lows won’t feel as powerful, which some people might find to be a bit too much. Also, this creates the effect of giving the pedal even more top end. So with the new Crunch Box, there is no chance that the pedal will be too dark. The Internal Presence Control is very useful if you wish to match the Crunch Box to your amp because some amps can be a lot brighter/darker than others.
